Here is a little background information about myself and my teaching philosophy.
This will be my twelfth year teaching at Stratton School and I have always loved the sense of community and pride that our students, families and faculty display throughout the school year. I have taught first grade for six years, kindergarten for four years, and also second grade for one year. I graduated with a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from Lesley University. I also earned my Doctorate Degree at Northeastern University through their Curriculum Leadership Program. The doctorate journey was a rewarding experience as I expanded my knowledge in the field of early childhood education while exploring the most up to date curriculum and classroom management topics.
On a personal note, I have been married for eight years now. My husband Steven is a Juvenile Police Detective for the city of Cambridge. We have a daughter named Michela who is almost 4 years old and a son named Michael who is almost 2 years old. I always enjoy sharing my Michela and Michael stories with the kids!
As a classroom teacher I feel that it is my job to help your child build confidence in a safe and welcoming classroom environment. Your child should LOVE coming to school each day as he/she grows academically and socially. I feel strongly about working closely with parents and forming a “partnership” as we learn what is best for your child’s education and classroom experience. It is important for all of us to understand that every child comes into the classroom with unique characteristics, varying academic abilities, and different learning styles. Therefore, please be assured that we will work towards providing a first grade experience that will benefit all students while nurturing their love for learning. Both parent communication and a supportive home/school connection are important in creating a successful learning environment. Please do not hesitate to contact me at any point throughout the year with concerns/questions regarding your child’s progress. I check my email daily and your child also has a Parent/Teacher Communication Journal in his/her take home folder. I am looking forward to a wonderful year!
