We are working in groups to read different versions of the 3 Little Pigs. After each group reads they create a poster to share with the class about the important parts of their story. Thank you for coming to the Literary Tea. And thank you to those who were able to donate or help out!

We started Poetry! We learned about the importance of line breaks and making our poems sound like music.
We mixed up our class with Mrs. Forse's class for math workshop today! We played a variety of place value games. Team work at Free Choice. They insisted I take their picture!
We wrapped up our Sound and Light Unit by exploring what our eyes could see in complete darkness. Then we worked with a partner and figured out a way to add light to the closed box so our partner could see what was inside. Ask your child what was in the box!
We celebrated Cinco De Mayo We explored with bubbles! The Discovery Museum came to room 6. Thank you PTO!!
In Reading Workshop this week the children were introduced to talking sticks. They used the speech bubble to add dialogue to their books and the thought bubble to add thoughts to their characters. This week we circled back to Hopes and Dreams and thought about our personal goals for the rest of First Grade!
We explored shadows! We learned about Doubles in Math. Ask your child about his/her fiction series character!
We learned the importance of rereading a text and looking closely to see what new discoveries we can notice that we never saw the first time! In Science we explored how to make our voices travel using cups and string! In Math we worked in teams to look at graphs, discussed the data and wrote down our ideas.
We had two Reader's Theater performances this week. Both groups did an amazing job working together to practice their parts. They also created backgrounds and props. Bravo! This week in Science we explored pitch and volume using a Spoon Gong system! We had fun this week creating African Landscape murals and writing!
We continued to explore sound this week. The question we explored was: What makes sound loud or soft. Ask your child what he/she discovered! We are having a blast with Readers Theater this week. We are practicing our parts with reading with fluency and expression. We are also making props and settings!
