School Hours: Mon., Wed., Thurs., Fri: 8:10 – 2:30
Tues: 8:10-1:00
Morning drop off is in the cafe. Please try your best to arrive on time! It is crucial for your child to start his/her day with classmates, lined up in the cafe. If you are late please walk your child to the front office and get a late pass from the secretary. Please do not escort your child to his/her classroom..let’s promote independence from day one!
Afternoon pick up is on the field. I will not release your child to anyone other than a parent or legal guardian. If your child will be picked up by a friend or other family member please notify me through email or your child’s folder.
Folder:
Please remember to bring your Room 6 folder back and forth to school each day. Please remember to check the folder daily for notes, homework, and special events.
Communication:
Please remember that morning drop off is not an appropriate time to chat about questions or concerns. My mornings are dedicated to welcoming your child and assuring a smooth transition and start to the day for all children. This goal cannot be accomplished if my attention is taken away from the children. Any important notices will be sent home in your child’s folder. At the beginning of the year I will ask parents if they would like classroom notices to be sent via email to help save paper. I check my email daily and will respond within 24 hours. My email address is: [email protected]. Also, in your child’s folder will be a Parent/Teacher Communication Journal. Please use this journal to let me know of changes to your child’s pick up schedule. You can also notify me of small issues for example: if your child had trouble doing homework the night before, or if your child had “rough” start to his/her morning. You can also use this journal to let me know if you would like to set up a time to meet and discuss any concerns. Please leave the journal OPEN to your note. I check folders each morning and I only read journals that are OPEN, which signals to me that you have written a note. If your journal is closed, I will assume that there is no note for me to read.
Snack:
We will have snack every morning. If weather permits we will go outside for snack and a short morning recess. Please provide your child with a small healthy snack. Due to classroom food allergies all snacks must be NUT FREE!
Birthdays:
We will celebrate each child’s birthday by crowning him/her King or Queen for the day! Summer birthdays will be celebrated towards the end of the school year. Please do not send in food for your child's birthday. We will celebrate by making each classmate a birthday book to take home on their birthday.
Homework:
More information regarding homework will be provided on Curriculum Night at the beginning of the year.
Parent Volunteers:
There will be opportunities for parents to volunteer outside the classroom. A sign up sheet will be handed out on Curriculum Night at the beginning of the year.
